Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data ScoreBattle collects, why, how we protect it, and the rights you have under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws. It supplements our Terms & Conditions.

01 Who we are

For the purposes of data-protection law, we are the data controller of the personal data we process about you. You can reach us at any time at support@scorebattle.com.

02 Scope of this policy

This policy applies to personal data we process when you visit scorebattle.com, use our mobile applications, create an account, play, join leagues, or contact us. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that we may link to, which have their own privacy policies.

04 How & why we use your data

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we balance those interests against your rights and freedoms. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time (see Section 11).

05 Cookies & tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service and to understand how it is used:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required to run the Platform, keep you logged in and protect security. These do not require consent.
  • Analytics & preference cookies — help us measure usage and remember your choices. These are set only with your consent.

You can accept or reject non-essential cookies via our cookie banner, and you can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. For full details see our Cookie Policy.

06 Marketing communications

We will only send you marketing emails where you have consented, or where otherwise permitted by law. Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time, or by emailing support@scorebattle.com. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential service messages relating to your account.

07 Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary, with:

  • Service providers (processors) who help us run the Platform — for example hosting and infrastructure, transactional email delivery, and analytics providers. They act on our instructions under contracts that require them to protect your data.
  • Other users, to a limited extent — your display name, avatar and standings are visible on leaderboards and within leagues you join.
  • Authorities or advisers, where required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
  • A successor entity, if our business is reorganised, merged or acquired, subject to this policy.

08 International transfers

Your data is primarily processed within the European Economic Area (EEA). Where we or our providers transfer personal data outside the EEA or UK, we ensure an appropriate level of protection using safeguards recognised under the GDPR — typically the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where relevant), or transfers to countries with an adequacy decision. You can request more information about these safeguards by emailing us.

09 How long we keep your data

We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law:

  • Account & gameplay data — for as long as your account is active.
  • After account deletion — we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited information for legal, accounting or security reasons.
  • Technical & analytics logs — typically kept for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated.

10 Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit (TLS), hashed passwords, access controls, least-privilege practices and monitoring. While no system can be guaranteed completely secure, we work continuously to safeguard your information and will notify you and the relevant authority of a data breach where the law requires.

11 Your rights under the GDPR

Subject to applicable law, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

Access
Obtain confirmation of, and a copy of, the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification
Have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
Erasure
Ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten") in certain circumstances.
Restriction
Ask us to restrict processing in certain circumstances.
Portability
Receive certain data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
Objection
Object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
Withdraw consent
Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out beforehand.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@scorebattle.com. We will respond within one month (which may be extended for complex requests, in which case we will let you know). Exercising your rights is free, although we may charge a reasonable fee or decline requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive.

12 Automated decision-making

We calculate Points and rankings automatically based on your predictions and published scoring rules. This is part of how the game works and does not produce legal or similarly significant effects on you. We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making that has a significant effect on you within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.

13 Children

ScoreBattle is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@scorebattle.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

14 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by a reasonable method (for example, by email or an in-app notice). The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows the current version. Please review it periodically.

15 Contact & complaints

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us:

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority. If you are in the EEA, this is your national authority; if you are in the UK, it is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns first, so please consider contacting us before doing so.
