01 Who we are
For the purposes of data-protection law, we are the data controller of the personal data we process about you. You can reach us at any time at support@scorebattle.com.
02 Scope of this policy
This policy applies to personal data we process when you visit scorebattle.com, use our mobile applications, create an account, play, join leagues, or contact us. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that we may link to, which have their own privacy policies.
03 Data we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data, mostly provided by you or generated as you use the Service:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account data | Username or display name, email address, password (stored in encrypted/hashed form), country. |
| Profile data | Avatar, preferences and any optional details you add. |
| Gameplay data | Your predictions, Points, leagues you create or join, and leaderboard rankings. |
| Technical data | IP address, device identifiers, browser type, operating system, app version, and approximate location derived from your IP. |
| Usage data | Pages and features used, interactions, session timestamps, and similar analytics data. |
| Communications | Messages you send us by email or in-app, and your contact and consent preferences. |
We do not intentionally collect special categories of data (such as health, religion or political opinions), and we ask that you do not submit such data through the Service.
04 How & why we use your data
We only process your personal data where we have a lawful basis to do so under the GDPR. The table below sets out our main purposes and the corresponding legal bases.
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Create and manage your account; let you log in. | Performance of a contract |
| Run the game — record predictions, calculate Points, manage leagues and leaderboards. | Performance of a contract |
| Send service messages (e.g. account, security, fixture reminders). | Performance of a contract |
| Keep the Platform secure; detect and prevent cheating, fraud and abuse. | Legitimate interests |
| Analyse usage and improve features and performance. | Legitimate interests / consent (for non-essential analytics) |
| Send marketing and promotional messages. | Consent (or legitimate interests where permitted) |
| Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests. | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we balance those interests against your rights and freedoms. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time (see Section 11).
06 Marketing communications
We will only send you marketing emails where you have consented, or where otherwise permitted by law. Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time, or by emailing support@scorebattle.com. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential service messages relating to your account.
08 International transfers
Your data is primarily processed within the European Economic Area (EEA). Where we or our providers transfer personal data outside the EEA or UK, we ensure an appropriate level of protection using safeguards recognised under the GDPR — typically the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where relevant), or transfers to countries with an adequacy decision. You can request more information about these safeguards by emailing us.
09 How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law:
- Account & gameplay data — for as long as your account is active.
- After account deletion — we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited information for legal, accounting or security reasons.
- Technical & analytics logs — typically kept for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated.
10 Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit (TLS), hashed passwords, access controls, least-privilege practices and monitoring. While no system can be guaranteed completely secure, we work continuously to safeguard your information and will notify you and the relevant authority of a data breach where the law requires.
11 Your rights under the GDPR
Subject to applicable law, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
To exercise any of these rights, email support@scorebattle.com. We will respond within one month (which may be extended for complex requests, in which case we will let you know). Exercising your rights is free, although we may charge a reasonable fee or decline requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive.
12 Automated decision-making
We calculate Points and rankings automatically based on your predictions and published scoring rules. This is part of how the game works and does not produce legal or similarly significant effects on you. We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making that has a significant effect on you within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.
13 Children
ScoreBattle is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@scorebattle.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
14 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by a reasonable method (for example, by email or an in-app notice). The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows the current version. Please review it periodically.
15 Contact & complaints
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us:
- Email: support@scorebattle.com
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority. If you are in the EEA, this is your national authority; if you are in the UK, it is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns first, so please consider contacting us before doing so.
